DTLA IS A Weirdo - Concert 08.21.25
Everyone’s got a strong opinion about Los Angeles and all of them are right. It’s polarizing. All great concepts are polarizing, and cities are one of humanity’s greatest ideas. Recently overheard a conversation with an artist from LA who left her corporate poisition in pursuit of her dreams. Everywhere else this person traveled, when asked what she does, the response that she’s a musician elicits the typical polite derision or follow-up “what’s your fall-back”… everywhere except LA. Whatever your opinion, LA draws people with dreams, big ones. The beautiful weirdos. And that’s pretty damn cool.
Downtown LA (DTLA) is one of the strangest urban centers in the world. Turn the corner, step lightly between tent city infrastructure, glance up at art deco-dance, slink into the bodego-iest bodego, square your shoulders and fix your hair before pulling open a wall-sized glass door to a cafe with 17 dollar lattes. LA. Downtown.
You can also find yourself in the bar of the Freehand Hotel and check-in with some song slingers trying to understand this world and escape from it (with you) at the same time.
